Five persons of a family, including two women and an 11-year-old boy, were killed and one suffered severe injuries after the car they were travelling in collided head on with an oncoming bus near Ghanpur village of Manchareddy mandal in Kamareddy district on Monday.
The accident took place around 9.30 a.m. when the TSRTC bus driver failed to assess the road curve and drove the vehicle in another lane. “The bus went off track and as the car was zooming at high speed, they collided head on,” Kamareddy police said. While the bus was going towards Kamareddy from Sircilla, the four-wheeler was going to Sircilla from Nizamabad.
The impact of the accident was such that five persons travelling in the car died on the spot, another suffered injuries, and the car was completely mangled.
The victims are V Radhakrishna (45), his wife Kalpana (40), their son Sriram (11), the former’s mother Suvarna (62) and the car driver, Narender (40), all residents of Nizamabad. The condition of Radhakrishna’s elder son, V Raghava (14), is said to be critical. A case was registered against TSRTC bus driver Ravula Srikanth and a probe is on.
