Five key things happening across Liverpool this week

It's shaping up to be a busy week and there is a lot to look out for.

David Ungi is set to make his appearance at Liverpool Crown Court for the murder of teenager Vinny Waddington. Elsewhere England look to make the quarter-finals of a world cup for a second successive tournament

While Paddy 'the baddy’ Pimblett hopes to get an early Christmas present by bagging his fourth UFC victory. With so much going on it will be hard to keep track of everything so we have put together a list of what is happening across the city this week.

Paddy 'the baddy’ Pimblett takes to the ring

Pimblett burst onto the UFC scene in 2021 and has been on a warpath ever since. His next fight against Jared Gordon is on December 10. The Huyton native will be looking to make it four wins in a row as he chases a UFC belt.

David Ungi to make first Crown Court appearance

David Ungi who is accused of the murder of Vinny Waddington will make his first appearance at Liverpool Crown Court next week. The 31-year-old was charged earlier in the month in connection with murdering the teenager, seven years after he was shot dead following a crash.

A trial date has been set for April 18, 2023, with the case set to last around three weeks. Ungi was remanded into custody ahead of a plea hearing on December 7.

World Cup quarter-finals

The Three Lions looked strong in their final group match of the World Cup coming out top after a 3-0 win over rivals Wales. England will now face off against Senegal tonight. If Southgate's men can beat the Afcon winners they will play their quarter-final match on Saturday, December 10.

Rio Jones to be sentenced

Rio Jones opened fire on his "enemy" on Upper Warwick Street in Toxteth on the evening of March 1 this year amid a feud between two rival gangs. One of his six shots hit the man in the wrist, while another struck a 15-year-old who was sat at a nearby bus stop. Jones has now been found guilty of attempted murder and is due for his sentencing on Friday, December 9.
