A dad-of-two who tragically died in an overturned lorry accident on the M8 has been named locally as James Murray.
The driver was involved in the fatal collision at Hermiston Gait Roundabout in Edinburgh during rush hour on Tuesday August 23.
Emergency services raced to the scene at 4pm and managed to rescue James, who was driving the vehicle, from the black DAF lorry.
Despite their efforts, James, from Falkirk, was sadly pronounced dead by medics a short time later.
Tributes have poured in for the dad and husband as he has been remembered as 'one of life's good guys'.
Writing on Facebook, his son, Jamie, said his dad was the 'best' that 'anyone could ask for'.
He said: "As his son, I can confirm he truly was the best father, husband and son anyone could’ve ever wished for."
Another person wrote: "James Murray was an absolute legend of a man. RIP James. One of life's good guys and what brilliant patter you had."
Another responded to Jamie in his tribute to his father: "I hope you're all okay mate, we have so many amazing memories of your dad growing up. He was brilliant to us all and was a laugh, what a man. So gutted this has happened."
The stretch of road was closed for around 12 hours to allow for an investigation at the scene and for recovery of the lorry. Officers say inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
A police appeal has been released for dash-cam footage.
Sergeant Paul Ewing, of Police Scotland ’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man involved in this incident. Our enquiries to establish what led to this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage of the vehicle."
Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 2184 of August 23.
