First look at Rickshaw - Glasgow's newest Asian restaurant opening in Partick this week

Glasgow is getting a new Asian restaurant - and it opens its doors this week.

Rickshaw and Co has been teasing the city's foodies with snippets of the new food joint trickling onto social media.

It officially opens on Friday and the Partick eatery promises a modern take on street food 'straight from India and Bangladesh'.

Sat in the heart of Partick Bridge Street, the venue replaces what was Hyde cocktail bar.

Co-owner Tushar Ahmed said its grand opening has been a long time coming.

He told Glasgow Live: “It’s been over two years since we started this project and it feels good to be finally opening those doors.

"Come to Rickshaw and Co to soak up the feelings, aromas and flavours from Bombay to Dhaka.

“You can stay for a drink and soak up the eclectic atmosphere of our stylish cafe bar or enjoy a savoury snack or comforting curry from our all day menu at Rickshaw.

"We promise there’s something to suit everyone.”

Rickshaw and Co chiefs gave Glasgow Live a sneak peak of the restaurant's vibrant interior that gives us a true flavour of Bengali culture.

A giant monkey mural by the entrance and decorative rickshaw make for perfect photo opportunities for diners.

Bright block colours throughout and hand-painted booths 'embody the Bengali culture' with animated, orange tigers and yellow peacocks as part of the creative decor.

Split over two floors, there's a 120-cover restaurant mezzanine, outside terrace and a café bar area.

More importantly, the menu boasts small plates, tandoori grills, biryanis, salad bowls, wraps, tiffin boxes and larger curries.

Those with dietary requirements need not fear as the owners claim all are catered for - including vegan and vegetarian.

Signature dishes include Pav Bhaji; a street food delicacy from Mumbai with homemade bread with a thick vegetable curry, slow-cooked charcoaled lamb chops with hot Kashmiri chillies as well as their paneer tikka .

Rickshaw and Co is located at 9 - 17 Patrick Bridge Street and opens on Friday, June 17.
