A firefighter was among six people hospitalized after a crash on the Eisenhower Expressway, according to Chicago Fire Department officials.
Fire officials and the Illinois State Police responded to a hit-and-run crash about 5:30 a.m. Sunday westbound on Interstate 290 near California Avenue when the driver of a silver Infiniti struck a fire truck and state police car parked at the scene, Illinois State Police said.
The firefighter was taken to the Rush University Medical Center, where he was in fair-to-serious condition, officials said.
- Five others were taken to Stroger and Mount Sinai Hospitals, officials said, including the 29-year-old driver of the Infiniti, whose condition was not considered to be life-threatening, police said.
Conditions of the four others transported to hospitals ranged from fair to critical, fire officials said.
Six others at the scene refused medical attention, authorities said.
The driver of the infiniti was cited for failure to yield to a stationary vehicle and driving under the influence, police said.
