On Saturday, tragedy struck the family of Almog Meir Jan, one of the hostages rescued from Gaza, as his father passed away in his home before learning of his son's safe return. Yossi Meir, the father, tragically died just hours before Almog's liberation, leaving the family devastated.
Authorities discovered Yossi Meir unconscious when they arrived to inform him of his son's rescue. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.
