On Saturday, tragedy struck the family of Almog Meir Jan, one of the hostages rescued from Gaza, as his father passed away in his home before learning of his son's safe return. Yossi Meir, the father, tragically died just hours before Almog's liberation, leaving the family devastated.
Authorities discovered Yossi Meir unconscious when they arrived to inform him of his son's rescue. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.
Almog Meir Jan, along with three other hostages, Noa Argamani, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv, were successfully freed from captivity in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. The operation was carried out by Israeli special forces, with assistance from US intelligence.
Tragically, the rescue operation resulted in a significant loss of life, with at least 236 individuals reported dead and hundreds more sustaining injuries, as confirmed by hospital officials in the enclave.
