Having managed a solitary victory in 12 league matches, few would blame Leeds United fans for allowing pessimism to creep in.
The appointment of Javi Gracia and subsequent win against Southampton has offered fans hope that more wins are on the way, but with the Whites out of the bottom three on goal difference alone prior to this weekend’s fixtures, the task at hand is not an easy one.
But that clearly hasn’t dampened the spirit around the club, and when over 1,000 supporters were asked by LeedsLive to share their views on the remaining months of the season, the outcome suggested optimism is in the Elland Road air.

When asked whether Leeds would avoid the drop, 61% of fans expressed confidence that they would, while 39% believe Gracia’s men will be relegated this season.
However, even those more optimistic supporters don’t expect survival to be easy. Only 4% of the surveyed fans have faith that the club will finish 13th or higher, with most fearing the scrap for survival will be a much closer call.
Over half of the respondents are expecting a finish of between 14th and 17th this term. Given that only four points currently separate 14th placed Nottingham Forest and Everton in the relegation zone, it’s fair to say that fans are expecting the battle to go right down to the wire this term.
And that’s reflected in the fact that only 4% are expecting Leeds to be bottom of the table when the curtain falls. Get ready for an exciting finale…
