A Sherpa guide who miraculously survived a week stranded on the perilous slopes of Mount Everest is recovering in a Kathmandu hospital as his family pursues legal action over what they claim was a delayed rescue effort.
Dawa Sherpa, 57, was discovered Thursday, crawling through the snow near the Khumbu Icefall, a week after he vanished. He was airlifted to Nepal's capital and reunited with his family. HAMS Hospital reported he is stable and recovering, despite suffering from frostbite, dehydration, and thigh injuries.
