Why Indian Bone Structure Changes the Equation
Indian faces are not a monolith, but there are consistent skeletal tendencies across South Asian populations: a broader zygomatic arch (the cheekbone ridge), a relatively flat midface, a stronger and wider mandible, and orbital bones that sit the eyes deeper into the skull. A 2019 study in the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery comparing craniofacial measurements across ethnic groups confirmed that South Asian subjects showed statistically significant differences in midface projection and mandibular width compared to Caucasian controls. These differences matter for face yoga because the underlying muscle groups you are targeting sit at different depths and angles. A movement designed to lift a narrow, high-arched cheekbone will do almost nothing for a broader, flatter one, and may even overwork the wrong muscle entirely.
