Art lovers will be taken on a journey of life during "Beyond Tigers", which kicks off Thursday and runs until Aug 7, at the RCB Photographers' Gallery 1 of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24.
This is a solo exhibition by talented Thai artist Thana Phothong who will get viewers to explore the stages of growing up. His paintings reflect a wide variety of moments in our imaginary and real world, including happiness, sadness, loneliness, pleasure and laughter through a tiger character -- an emblem of power, courage and majesty with inner and outer strength.
They depict three periods of everyone's life. The stage of childhood is filled with pure and innocent thoughts and imagination while adolescence is motivated by the bravery that gives us the capacity to strive after our ambitions, success and satisfy our unforeseen demands without fear.
During adulthood, we have conquered various challenges and tend to live our lives more consciously as we have to cope with societal pressure while taking responsibility for our lives and dealing with our complex emotions.
Through the tiger character, the exhibition reflects individuals' personalities as the artist believes that everyone has a tiger inside even though they are unaware of its existence. He wishes that the viewers will fall in love with the animal that is sleeping inside themselves.
