Fast-growing telecoms equipment supplier 4Com has continued its recent expansion with the acquisition of Bluebell Cloud Solutions' business customers.
The deal is Bournemouth-based 4Com’s third in nine months. The firm completed the first buyout in its almost 25-year history with the purchase of West Bromwich-based Midshire Telecom last summer.
The company, which supplies more than 10,000 SMEs, followed that up with a takeover of Norwich-based Eastern Voice and Data in November.

4Com’s latest deal, completed for an undisclosed sum, will see it only picking up Bluebell’s business customer base, with the Northampton-based business continuing to trade.
Gary Scutt, 4Com’s chief executive, said: “When Bluebell Cloud Solutions reached out to us, we were naturally keen to explore their proposal of acquiring their business telecoms customers to support our ongoing growth strategy.
“As this was our first acquisition where we’ve bought a customer base rather than an entire company it was a new experience for us, and one which we’ve once again learned a lot from. We’re delighted to complete the deal with Bluebell and we look forward to building a strong relationship with our new customers”.
Bluebell director Ben Newbury said the business had been looking to for an “injection of capital” to expand the business, and the agreement had been finalised within six weeks of initial contact with 4Com.
Mr Newbury added: “4Com were very clear from the outset how the process worked, were honest in their approach and pulled no last-minute tricks on price, as so commonly seen in the industry.”
Mr Scutt said 4Com was looking to continue its growth with “further acquisition opportunities within the telecom industry”.
