The recent murder of actress Veena Kapur (74), following which her son Sachin Kapoor (43) was arrested by the Mumbai police, has sent shockwaves through the industry. She was murdered by her son over a property dispute. The two had a heated argument following which Sachin hit her with a baseball bat on the head repeatedly. Later, with the help of their house help Chhotu aka Lalukumar Mandal, he dumped her body into a river outside Mumbai. The police initiated an investigation on December 6 after a missing complaint was filed by Veena’s elder son, who is settled in the US. Her body was found last week and later, Sachin confessed to his crime.
Actor Aditya Shukla knew Veena Kapur very well and feels bad that she could not be saved. He says, “My mother (actress Shielly Shukla) and Veena Kapurji acted together in the TV show Bhabhi about two decades ago. They became friends and Veenaji would often visit us. She had told us that her younger son was treating her badly. He would torture her mentally, make a mess at home, play loud music, and call people over.”
