Excitement as last unit set to be filled at Clifton Triangle Retail Park

The last vacant unit at the Clifton Triangle Retail Park is set to be filled with a new business. It comes after Nottingham City Council approved the letting of Unit 1 at the site in Green Lane.

The unit is vacant but it is unclear which business will move into it. The new business would operate alongside B&M, Lidl and The Butchers Shop at the retail park.

City council papers have shown the authority has agreed to lease out the premises. Senior business leaders and a local councillor welcomed the news.

East Midlands Chamber chief executive Scott Knowles said: “Despite the acceleration of online shopping trends in recent years, retail parks continue to play an important role in the industry as they bring high volumes of footfall to a single shopping destination.

“Empty units are no use to anyone, so it’s always a positive step to fill vacant spaces as this brings a new business, jobs and customers to the area, while it can have a knock-on impact in attracting new investors in future.”

Councillor Kevin Clarke, who represents Clifton East for the Nottingham Independents on the city council, said: "I believe it’s great that the last remaining unit is just about signed and sealed.

"Its been a long time coming and I feel the new business will certainly add to the whole Triangle retail park. It will definitely be a welcome sight to shoppers who for so long have seen empty units on the Triangle. The problem has been the very high rent prices and uncertainty with Covid.

"I do believe the new business have agreed a long term lease and been able to negotiate a rental more realistic of the present times. I wish the new business every success and the best of luck for the future."

It comes after a new vets opened at the retail park, creating new jobs. Work on the Clifton Triangle project started in July 2017 with the demolition of Fairham House site, which was previously owned by the city council.
