After the Tennessee Titans somewhat surprisingly parted ways with outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi recently, he was set to join the Pittsburgh Steelers.
However, that will not happen after all, as Adeniyi has failed his physical for his former team and remains a free agent, according to ESPN’ Adam Schefter.
It isn’t clear why he flunked the exam, but Adeniyi had been dealing with a neck injury for much of the season before he finally returned in Week 13. He was inactive in Week 14 but wasn’t listed on the injury report.
Adeniyi was originally signed by the Titans in 2021, and was then re-signed in 2022, ultimately appearing in 19 games over a season-plus, tallying 2.5 sacks, all of which came in the first three weeks of last season.
Correction: former Titans’ LB Ola Adeniyi wasn’t claimed on waivers, but planned to sign with Pittsburgh until his failed physical there.

On top of being a backup on defense and a key special teams contributor, Adeniyi was also named one of six captains prior to the start of this season.
Prior to his stint in Nashville, Adeniyi spent three seasons with the Steelers, playing mostly on special teams.
