Ex-Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has heaped praise on Kylian Mbappe and is backing the French forward to outscore every player at the World Cup.
With three goals in his first two matches at the tournament, Mbappe is leading the way in the scoring charts alongside Ecuador's Enner Valencia. This statistic may come as no surprise to most given the frightening form of the 23-year-old at club level, having bagged 19 times in 20 matches for Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool have continued to be tentatively linked with the prolific forward, who agreed a new two-year deal with the Ligue 1 leaders during the summer to end speculation surrounding his future.

One individual who is an admirer of the PSG talisman is Sturridge, who was also devastating within the final third whenever fit and firing for the Reds. Sharing his admiration for Mbappe, the free agent told Sky Sports : "For me, I think he will win the Golden Boot. I think he is a special player because of his ability, the runs he makes. He is always shooting as well, which is important. People don't probably look at that stat as much [shots taken] but the more shots you take, the more goals you score, He gets into positions to score and creates his own goals as well."
This interview then took a strange turn as Sturridge burst into song: "That's why I would probably why I would say 'Killie, Killie; Mbappe, Mbappe, Mbappe, oh! That's what we say." The 33-year-old added: "I think he is a special player. There are a few other players [who could win the Golden Boot], England have the likes of Kane, Sterling and Saka but Mbappe is the one that stands out the most."
