Ex EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt 'to earn double soap salary as he lands new acting job'

Adam Wodyatt is reportedly set to earn double his soap salary after landing a brand new acting job, it has been claimed.

Former EastEnders star Adam, 54, is said to have landed a star role in a production of My Fair Lady and is reportedly expected to earn £500,000 for the gig.

Meanwhile, Adam reportedly earned between £200,000 and £249,000 while on EastEnders.

The former Ian Beale actor is reportedly set to play Eliza Doolittle's father Alfred in 158 shows, which will take place over nine months – reportedly earning him up to £3,500 per performance.

An industry insider has claimed to The Sun that Adam will earn at least £2,000 but will get £750 if capacity of the theatre is at 70% and another sum if capacity reaches 85%.

The source said: "Adam’s a big-name so there’s no reason ticket sales won’t be buoyant.

"It’s a good deal for him. Theatre work’s hard but rewarding — and a lot more fun than the day-to-day slog of filming a soap.

"If the tour goes well he could become a stage star."

The Mirror has reached out to Adam's representatives for comment.

Adam is said to be appearing alongside singers Charlotte Kennedy and Lesley Garrett, 67, in a UK tour of the production after a run in London’s West End later this year.

Charlotte will reportedly star as Eliza, with the role being famously played by Audrey Hepburn in a 1964 film production of the play.

And the opportunities don't stop there for Adam as he recently opened up on his future TV projects and teased him taking part in the All Stars version of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.

Speaking about the possibility of heading on the All Stars version, he said: "I'd go back and do it in a heartbeat, I'd go back to the castle, dump me in a desert, I'd go back, I loved it. Me and Si [Simon Gregson], we had the best time."

Adam also opened up about the iconic role of Ian Beale, which he has played on and off for 38 years.

He said: "I've been associated with EastEnders for 38 years. In 22 years I'll probably still be associated with EastEnders because that's the nature of the character."

Adam's character Ian had a number of memorable storylines while on Albert Square as plots have seen Ian shot, homeless and even with his head down the toilet courtesy of Phil Mitchell.

The soap icon's exit saw him walking to Walford East tube station and binning his phone after he discovered Sharon Mitchell had been poisoning him after she discovered he had a hand in her son Denny's death.

However, Adam revealed he has no plans to return to Walford in the near future shortly after leaving.

Speaking ahead of his stint on I'm A Celeb in November, Adam was asked if he would go back to the soap.

He said: "So I literally come out of the castle whenever that is, have Christmas off and then we’re back into rehearsals because Laurie Brett’s taking over from Gaynor Faye.

"And then we’re doing that until the end of April.

"It’s been it’s been a lot of fun working and seeing [Laurie] again. It’s kind of bittersweet.

"I’m looking forward to Laurie coming in, I’m going to miss Gaynor because she’s been an absolute joy to work with. It’s been wonderful."
