The Big Weekend is returning to Glasgow next week, taking over the Kelvin Way with a number of events open to all.
The two day community festival comes after the success of the Summer in the West End events programme earlier this year, and is set to be held on September 3 and 4. Taking place at the Kelvingrove Bandstand and along the Kelvin Way, all events will be free and for all the family.
We’ve got everything you need to know ahead of the jam-packed weekend.

The weekend kicks off with The Big Saturday Gala, on September 3 at 11am. With a variety of entertainment at the bandstand - you can enjoy samba music, choirs, circus performers and much more.
The event will extend along Kelvin Way with a street market, food and drink options, kids play area, street theatre and pop up workshops. The gala is set to finish up at around 5pm.
Into Saturday evening, and Drag at the Bandstand kicks off at 7.30pm. This event will be ticketed, and promises a night of cabaret and comedy hosted by Cheri Treiffel.
If you’re not too rough on Sunday morning, Voice @ the Bandstand starts at 11am. They’ll be celebrating some of the biggest vocal choirs from across Scotland.
At 2.30pm, those who are ready for a bit of dancing can head to The Big Outdoor Ceilidh on Kelvin Way. Later on in the day, a Brand Band will close out the weekend at 4.30pm.
Brendon McIlroy, Director of WestFest, said: “We’ve been delighted to have been able to deliver a much needed programme of community events in the West End this summer. The Big Weekend is the culmination of our programme and we’re so excited to open up the Kelvingrove Bandstand all along Kelvin Way for this unique and vibrant festival.
“In the absence of many of the community events that once took place in the West End, WestFest plans to fill the void with free, inclusive and community focused events open to all in the West End and beyond.
More information for The Big Weekend is available on the website. Tickets for Drag at the Bandstand - the only event over the two days that is ticketed, are available here.
