Anonymous NFL executives, coaches and scouts consider Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. as the 10th-best player at his position entering the 2024 season, according to annual polling conducted by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
With dozens of personnel submitting their top 10 players at each position and offering some analysis, one league member ranked Etienne as highly as the No. 4 running back in the NFL. He was among the honorable mentions for last offseason’s ranking of rushers.
“One of the few three-down backs. Really good zone runner. Makes people miss in space,” one NFL coordinator told ESPN. “Decent catching the ball and in pass protection. No major flaws — just not great in short-yardage situations.”
One of Jacksonville’s two first-round picks in the 2021 NFL draft, alongside Clemson teammate and No. 1 overall selection, quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Etienne missed his entire rookie season with a Lisfranc injury but has since produced back-to-back 1,000 rushing yard campaigns.
Etienne has tallied 2,133 yards and 16 touchdowns over 487 career carries and 34 games, averaging 4.4 yards per rush. He’s also caught 93 passes for 792 yards and one score.
The Jaguars picked up the fifth-year option on Etienne’s rookie contract in April, fully guaranteeing him a $6.1 million salary for his fifth season with the team in 2025.
