Enthusiast ‘lands’ on the moon using hardware from the 1980s — ZX Spectrum home computer with 3.5 MHz CPU and 48KB of memory power Kerbal space flight

Scott Manley showing how he landed a spacecraft on the moon using a ZX Spectrum home computer from the 1980s.

Mere weeks after successfully using a ZX Spectrum to fly a simulated spacecraft, space enthusiast and YouTuber Scott Manley has successfully “landed” on the moon using the home computer from the 1980s. Of course, Manley didn’t have an actual lunar lander with him, so he used the 2015 spaceflight simulator Kerbal Space Program, using a ZX Spectrum to control the spacecraft. For those unfamiliar with the Spectrum, it’s a home computer built by UK company Sinclair Research, released in 1982.
