Energy bills “to breach £3,000” in the New Year according to grim new forecast

Average household energy bills are set to breach a grim landmark of £3,000 for the first time ever in the New Year, a leading forecaster warned today.

Specialist analysts Cornwall Insight said the recent spike in wholesale gas prices led it to upgrade its estimates for the energy cap in the Autumn and winter.
