Emotions high as iconic town waltzes into history books

It was a bit early for a billabong, and there weren't any swagmen about, but jolly residents and plenty of cake were on show for the 150th anniversary of one of Australia's most iconic towns.

Winton, in outback western Queensland, is best known for being the place Banjo Paterson first played Waltzing Matilda in 1895 and where Qantas held its first board meeting in 1921.
