Emotional Lucas Moura confirms Tottenham exit as Brazilian reflects on five years in north London

Tottenham have confirmed that Lucas Moura will leave the club at the end of the current season.

The 30-year-old joined Spurs from PSG in 2018 and has scored 38 goals in his 219 appearances, three of which came in a stunning comeback win over Ajax to send Tottenham into the 2019 Champions League final.

Moura’s contract in north London is up in the summer, and he will leave as a free agent when it expires to bring an end to his five-year spell at the club.

The Brazilian has played just 120 minutes of Premier League football this season, all of which have come from the bench, but he will be hoping to play some part in Tottenham’s final two matches of the campaign.

Ryan Mason’s side host Brentford this weekend before travelling to face Leeds on the final day of the season, as they look to finish seventh and secure a place in the Europa Conference League.

“Difficult to speak, I need to hold the tears,” Moura told Sky Sports.

“It’s been five years, incredible time and I don’t want to think about the last game. It was a gift to play for Spurs, a great adventure for me and I enjoyed it a lot.

“It’s always sad to say goodbye, especially when you love the play you are. You love the people you work with. It’s very difficult, but it’s part of the process.

“Great memories, great moments that I will keep in my heart forever.”
