Emmerdale newcomer Victor confirmed what he had been hiding on Friday night, after hints something was wrong with his health.
The father of vicar Charles Anderson recently came back into his life, despite a criminal past landing him in prison for decades. Initially Charles' mother Claudette wanted nothing to do with her estranged husband, but she has recently allowed him to stay in the village.
Charles and his father are still not on good terms, but recent scenes appeared to suggest Victor was hiding something, amid speculation from viewers over his reasons for heading to the village.
On Friday night, Victor was seen looking unwell and in one moment he needed to sit down after having a funny turn. Just a day after encouraging his granddaughter Naomi to go and live her life, he appeared to be keeping something under wraps.
Claudette knew something was wrong, and as Victor began clutching his head she demanded answers. He initially downplayed his situation, and claimed he had funny turns every now and again.
As his wife pressed him for answers though he finally admitted what was wrong with him, and hinted at his reasons for trying to reconnect with his family after so many years. Victor told Claudette that he had an "unruptured brain aneurysm".
He told her: "It's sitting in my brain, lurking there. Letting me know I could pop off at any moment. I didn't even want to tell you or Charles. I don't want his pity, I want his love."
The NHS website describes a brain aneurysm as "a bulge in a blood vessel caused by a weakness in the blood vessel wall, usually where it branches".
They add: "Most brain aneurysms only cause noticeable symptoms if they burst. Most aneurysms do not rupture, so treatment is only carried out if the risk of a rupture is particularly high."
Claudette was reeling over the news - while fans are convinced he is lying about it. The soap had not confirmed the health twist for the character ahead of transmission, so it is not known where the storyline will lead or if Victor's health will take a turn.
It seems Victor headed to the village to make amends after discovering his health issue. But will he tell Charles everything, and what will it mean for the new character?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
