Emmerdale fans have slammed the storylines of a number of characters on the show and made a chilling prediction for the soap's 50th anniversary.
During tonight's episode it was revealed David Metcalfe would be flying to Portugal to look after his ex Alicia who had tumbled down a cliff while taking a selfie. Fans found this hard to believe as David is currently broke and even tried to commit insurance fraud to spruce up his finances.
Leyla's storyline also seems to vex viewers who have complained that her character has been "ruined" by writers. Others said her drug addiction was not portrayed seriously enough and comes across as "almost comical".

Leyla, faced with cashflow problems despite winning back Kim Tate's big wedding, was forced to agree to a plan to store drugs for dealer Callum. Some fans are now convinced she will cheat on her husband with him to get access to the drugs for free.
Others have made a more chilling prediction and said they think writers might killer her off for the show's 50th anniversary in October. Meanwhile, Faith was busy trying to retrieve something she claims was hers from her long-lost stepdaughter who had died recently.
Faith herself is currently battling terminal cancer and actress Sally Dexter is expected to leave the show soon. During tonight's episode fans commented on the character's appearance and said she looked well for someone so ill.
Taking to Twitter, they aired their complaints about the characters' storylines.
Chris P tweeted: "Why would David be going to look after Alicia. That's the stupidest thing since Bernice ran off to Aus to look after her ex. ED rehashing old plots again & again."
Sally commented: "David was skint the other week, now he’s booking flights lol."
Mags W said: "Could the writers not come up with something at least a wee bit believable for David's disappearance? He is up to his eyes in debt, yet can jet off to Portugal at the drop of a hat, supposedly to look after an ex?"
@thetealive wrote: "#EDHQ, be brave and have Leyla overdose, not die, but overdose. Let a lesson be learnt.
"At the moment it seems like the sensationalism of the seriousness of drug addiction. This is a ridiculous storyline for the character Leyla, it’s boring & almost comical."
Polly commented: "Well done Emmerdale you have completely destroyed Leyla's character."
Elizabeth Edwards speculated: "I think Leyla dies in Emmerdale 50th anniversary and I hope so because her not good woman."
@ASuperGav wrote: "Faith not looking too shabby for a dying woman. Obviously, death becomes her."
And Pam said: "Faith must surely have better things to do other than try to seek revenge in her latter days."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
