Emergency services rush to Scots riverside after woman 'slips down bank retrieving dog'

River Esk

Emergency services rushed to a Scots riverbank on Saturday after a woman got into difficulty trying to retrieve her pet dog.

Police, ambulance response units and fire crews descended on Lothian Bridge in Dalkeith, Midlothian, at 1.30pm on Saturday, February 4, following reports of the woman falling down a six-foot high slope.

Edinburgh Live reports that it has been suggested she fell trying to get her pooch out of the same spot, on the banks of the River Esk.
