York Hall in Bethnal Green on Friday, October 6, 2023 will be the center stage as Ellis Zorro competes against Luca D’Ortenzi. The weight restriction for the cruiserweight category fight, which will be contested over 10 rounds, is 200 pounds (14.3 stone or 90.7 KG).
Zorro, a south Londoner will now defend his first championship against the experienced Luca D’Ortenzi (17-3, 4KO), who is unfamiliar to British boxing fans because he has never competed in the United Kingdom.
Luca D’Ortenzi from Roma, Italy achieved a TKO victory in the eighth round to claim the Italian heavyweight title in July 2019. In October 2019, he captured the IBF Mediterranean cruiserweight title. Later, in 2021 and 2022, respectively, he added the IBO and IBF international titles to his collection. He holds the top cruiserweight ranking in Italy.
“I am very excited to fight in London in the York Hall which is a very famous hall of English boxing!! It will be awesome,” said Luca D’Ortenzi in media reports.
“I think this is the quickest turn-around I’ve had since I was fighting on small hall shows. I think that is what I was looking forward to with winning a title and then defending it,” said Ellis Zorro(16-0, 7KO), 30, in media reports.
“I’ve gone from, trying to get on a card and sitting around after winning the Boxer, to headlining and winning a title and now headlining again to defend it. I am over the moon, to be honest with you, I am happy it is at York Hall again and my last two have been good fights for the fans,” said Ellis Zorro in media reports.
