Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple has undergone a career renaissance this season as his team heads for the AFC title game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
And he’s not afraid to take other teams — and players and fans — to task on social media while embracing the villain role.
That includes taking free shots at the New York Giants, the team that drafted him 10th overall in 2016, as well as the New Orleans Saints, where he spent multiple seasons.
Apple, who held down the starting role opposite Chidobe Awuzie with Trae Waynes out, gained the apparent ire of Saints defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson on Monday with some of the trash talk:
Boy watch yo mouth. You a pillow foreal 💯 https://t.co/GiSgrGaLpw

That was far from Apple’s only shot fired as of late coming out of the divisional round win over the Titans:

Not to worry — it doesn’t sound like Apple will have Bengals fans in crosshairs when he leaves town:
Easily by far the most loyal and knowledgeable https://t.co/UASVbTiT87

Based on his play and what the Bengals have going on in that secondary? Apple’s departure won’t happen anytime soon.
