Arsenal could learn the fate of Gabriel Jesus' knee injury today (Tuesday) meaning technical director Edu can begin to implement his transfer plan ahead of the January transfer window. The Gunners may be forced to dip into the transfer market for a new striker should the severity of the Brazilian's injury present a much worse problem than feared.
football.london understands that the Arsenal forward will miss the remainder of the World Cup through injury after starting his first World Cup game against Cameroon. Jesus was set to meet with a knee specialist upon his arrival in London and there could be further cause for concern should Mikel Arteta's No. 9 be out for an extended period of time.
The Gunners only have Eddie Nketiah available as their other striker option and although the Englishman is capable of leading the line, the club may look to sign a more experienced forward, despite the Hale Ender scoring five goals in seven games towards the end of last season before extending his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners could soon find out how long they face being without Jesus and whether the striker requires surgery. However, until the club are 100% sure he requires such treatment, club sources have insisted it's difficult to know definitive timelines.
Arsenal had already been tipped to make a move into the transfer market as Arteta's side look to bolster the squad depth in north London as they prepare to continue their Premier League title push once the domestic season restarts after the World Cup hiatus.
A new winger and central midfielder are understood to be the priorities but that may have to change should Jesus face a lengthy time out on the sidelines.
No particular striker appears to have been lined up to replace Jesus. However, should the Brazilian require surgery, Edu and Arteta will be forced to spend their time out in Dubai searching for a short-term fix to ensure the Gunners don't lose their way in the Premier League title race.
