Arsenal have been given a major boost opportunity in the January transfer window as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly received a proposal from Juventus.
According to the Athletic’s David Ornstein, Barcelona and the Serie A side have made official approaches to sign the 32-year-old on loan until the summer.
This news comes after Arsenal have reportedly reopened talks with the Old Lady in regards to possibly signing Dejan Kulusevski according to Di Marzio.
This deal could do a lot to help Arsenal not just in the January transfer window but also in the summer.
The Gunners are in desperate need of a midfielder and forward who can help propel the club to a safe place in the Champions League positions.
Alexandre Lacazette is currently Arsenal’s starting striker but there is no guarantee he will be at the club next season due to his contract expiring in less than six months.
With Aubameyang out of the picture that leaves Eddie Nketiah as the backup forward, but he has not shown the quality of a top Premier League forward, and his contract also has less than six months remaining.
Arsenal will need to go big and expensive in the summer transfer window to solve the striker issues, and getting Aubameyang off the wage bill from January will help to free up space to allow the funding of a high-priced striker.
The club have been heavily linked to Alexander Isak but various reports have stated that Edu must be prepared to pay the £90m release clause for the Swedish striker.
This is also potentially why the club have allowed Calum Chambers and Sead Kolasinac to leave on a free transfer, as not only does it follow the promise of Mikel Arteta’s overhaul but it creates space for major signings.
In the meantime, Kulusevki would be a useful short-term option that could into the long-term as the Gunners are in need of a midfielder due to the major shortages in that position.
However a deal for the Swedish international will not be easy to complete as The Athletic has also reported that Tottenham are also working on a loan deal for the 21-year-old.
Despite Kulusevski being strongest in a right midfield position, he is also capable of providing cover in the central midfield, which Arsenal evidently need as Albert Sambi Lokonga has struggled in that position over recent weeks.
The north London side is taking steps in the right direction with the Kulusevski move, however, it is still pivotal that Edu signs a forward at least on a short-term deal which would fully vindicate selling Aubameyang in the January transfer window.
