Edinburgh weather as BBC forecasts snow and sleet in the capital

Snow and sleet are set to hit Edinburgh in less than two weeks according to BBC Weather.

The remainder of January looks to be relatively mild, with temperatures generally hovering around 10 degrees Celsius.

BBC Weather also predicts skies to be mostly pleasant for the rest of the month, with numerous days of light clouds and sunny intervals forecasted.

February looks set to start off chillier and more wintery, however.

The forecaster predicts that temperatures in Edinburgh will fall below 5C over the first couple of days of the month, with lows approaching freezing.

On February 3, snow will return to the city according to the weather service.

Light snow showers expected at around 8am, after which it predicts "sleet showers and a moderate breeze" for much of the day.

Temperatures will hover just above 0C for a large part of the morning, before increasing to over 5C in the afternoon.

As the mercury rises throughout the day, the snow and sleet predicted to fall in the morning will turn to rain showers later on.
