Edinburgh Waverley Station evacuated after 'emergency' tannoy alerts passengers

Scores of passengers have been evacuated from Edinburgh Waverley Station following an incident on Friday afternoon.

Passengers using the city centre train station were quickly told to leave the building on October 14 shortly after 1.30pm following an urgent tannoy.

Clearing out the building, the audio message informed passengers of a "reported emergency", before instructing them to leave the building.

The station was also evacuated last month in a similar fashion, with passengers waiting outside for half an hour due to an alarm being set off that forced a full evacuation.

British Transport Police and Network Rail were contacted for comment.
