A popular Edinburgh restaurant has hit back at a customer who claimed staff didn't make enough of a "fuss" over her on her birthday.
Giving an honest review of her experience at DINE in the city centre, the diner claimed the meal wasn't what they were hoping for, after visiting for a 50th birthday.
Ranked in the top 10 eateries in the capital, the fine dining restaurant are usually flooded with positive reviews for their quality food and excellent service.

However, writing on TripAdvisor, the woman had claimed that although the "service was very good", the main meal was disappointing, and felt that she was hoping for a "little more fuss" on her special day.
Giving three stars out of give, her comments read: "We booked a table here to celebrate my 50th birthday. The cocktails were delicious as was the wine.
"The service was very good and the starters were delicious. However, we ordered the Chateaubriand for main and were disappointed. It looked and tested ‘manufactured’ and for £69 the portion was on the small side, three pieces of meat each. I’ve eaten this before in other restaurants and it’s been far superior.
"I was also hoping for a little more fuss as it was my special birthday. I received a glass of rose bubbles which was a nice touch and then I noticed other guests receiving the same, even though they weren’t celebrating birthdays.
"A nice complimentary birthday dessert would have been nice maybe? When you are spending £200 on a meal, you expect the best, but I just felt this restaurant fell short in certain areas hence I probably wouldn’t recommend or visit again."
Quickly responding to the review, the restaurant had apologised that the experience wasn't what they were hoping for. However, they hit back at the claims regarding the fuss, as well as the free glass of fizz.
Speaking online, DINE said: "Thank you for your review and I am sorry to hear we fell short of your expectations when dining with us on the evening of Saturday 23rd April.
"Our Chateaubriand is a 17.5oz (500g) prime cut of borders beef which is sourced locally from independent companies who also supply the Michelin Star and fine dining restaurants of Edinburgh. This is the first such feedback we have received and I have discussed your comments with Stuart and our kitchen team.
"On most weekends we have many customers who choose Dine to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. Last night no was no different, plus some customers also purchase a glass of rose fizz as a pre-dinner aperitif.
"We take much pride in offering a quality dining experience and I am very sorry to hear you wouldn’t recommend or chose to dine with us again."
