Edinburgh park tragedy as man collapses and dies in front of shocked walkers

Emergency services rushed to Traquair Park after an 84-year-old man was taken unwell in Costorphine earlier today - but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The Edinburgh OAP appeared to be unwell around Pinkhill Steps in the park as members of the public contacted emergency services.

Police and ambulances raced to the Corstorphine park but the gentleman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a 84-year-old man taken unwell at Traquair Park in Edinburgh around 12.20pm on Friday, 21 January.

“Emergency services attended but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
