The cost of living crisis has increased the cost of numerous everyday essentials, including bread and milk. Over the past year prices for milk have soared by two thirds and could soon cost more than petrol per litre.
A pint of milk could now set you back by around 86p, which is around £1.50 per litre. Some smaller stores are even charging as much as £1.05 per pint, which comes in at £1.85 for a litre.
Whether you’re dairy free or drink whole milk every morning, the price of all milk is becoming a problem for many. Delivery service Getir has announced they will be offering free bottles of milk with orders so anyone feeling the pinch will not be left without this essential item.
From today, all users who spend over £20 on the app will find their milk is totally free through the app's promotions section. This is across all milk products including brands like Cravendale, Oatly and Alpro - a litre of which could set you back £2 due to dairy free costing more than regular milk.
Getir UK said: “We at Getir have an ongoing commitment to give our customers value up and down the country. Amid spiralling supermarket prices and the news of the latest milk inflation, we want to ensure people get the essentials they need, when they need them.’’
They acknowledged that often buying in bulk is cheaper but can be impractical for those who live alone or do not use large quantities of milk. This deal means that even those who only need smaller bottles will still benefit from this promotion and won’t need to worry about wastage.
This is not an ongoing promotion and is only available while stocks last and in areas which Getir delivers to. Currently the brand is limited to major cities and may not deliver to all areas within those cities.
