Supermarkets across the country have amended their opening and closing times ahead of the Easter weekend, with a few changes to note.
The likes of Dunnes, Tesco, SuperValu, Aldi and Lidl will be making some changes to their operating hours from this Thursday, April 14 to Monday, April 18.
If you haven’t started stockpiling your chocolate eggs ahead of this weekend, it might be a good idea to check out the opening times of your local supermarket as there are a few changes you may need to be aware of.
Dunnes Stores
Dunnes branches across the country will have slightly amended opening times ahead of Easter this weekend.
Each store will have reduced hours, but these will depend on the location of the shop.
For example, the branch on Dublin’s Henry Street will open for business at 8:30am on April 14 and close at 8pm. This is the same for Good Friday, with the shop closing just an hour earlier at 7pm on Saturday, April 16.
The shop will not open on Easter Sunday at all. Dunnes Henry Street will re-open at 11am on April 18 and close at 7pm.
However, the branch in Dungarvan will open at 8am on April 14 and close at 9pm.
The opening hours will depend on the location of the shop, with most closing on Easter Sunday.
Customers are advised to have a look at Dunnes’ store locator to find out the opening times of their local shop .
Tesco
Similarly, Tesco shops around the country will have varying opening and closing times for this weekend.
Typically, the shops open at about 8am on Sundays and close at 7pm, depending on the location. During the week, they open up at 7am and close at 10pm.
Customers are advised to check Tesco’s online store locator to check the opening hours for their local shop to avoid missing out.
SuperValu
Once again, each SuperValu store will differ in terms of its Easter opening hours.
Some shops open from 6am to 11pm, such as Aston Quay in Dublin city centre. Others, such as Supervalu in Balbriggan, open at 8am and close at 8pm.
There is a store locator online with opening information and a phone number for each branch on Supervalu’s website.
Aldi
There are no changes to Aldi’s opening times this week, with stores opening at 9am from April 11 to April 18.
Closing times, however, vary. Stores will close at 10pm on April 14 and 15, 9pm on April 16 and April 18.
That being said, a statement on their website said: “Don’t forget, over the Easter bank holiday a number of stores have different start and close times.
“Store opening times may vary by location, so please double check signage at your local store.”
Aldi will not open on Easter Sunday.
Lidl
There are a number of changes to Lidl’s opening hours across the country from April 15 to April 18.
On Good Friday and Easter Saturday, shops across the country will open at 8am and close at 10pm.
Lidl will close all day on Easter Sunday, according to their website.
They will reopen on Easter Monday at 9am and close at 9pm.
