East Lothian locals have been warned after a coastal path was seen crumbling away following lashes of heavy rain.
Council officials took to social media on Friday, January 6, to issue an urgent update that they had closed a section of the walkway in Dunbar due to 'safety reasons.'
Issuing an image of the path, the stretch could be seen blocked off to walkers by barricades, with a huge section of the ground appearing to be slipping downwards.

Located on the Doo Rock coastal path, the council shared that severe erosion due to a series of bad weather had caused the path to collapse.
A post added: "Part of the Doo Rock coastal path at Dunbar has been closed off for access for safety reasons. Heavy rainfall in recent days is believed to have contributed to erosion of foundations causing cracking and slippage of the path.

"Alternative routes to access the beach are signposted."
It has not been confirmed when the path will reopen.
