St Mirren academy talent Dylan Reid has completed his impressive switch to English Premier League side Crystal Palace.
The 17-year-old's contract with St Mirren was set to expire in the summer, with the club only due a less substantial fee if he'd moved to England once a free agent.
The Saints instead sanctioned a move to the Eagles, with the teenager joining them on a three-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee with significant add-ons and a sell-on fee already agreed.
St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson explained: "Dylan is a kid with great potential and someone who I would have liked to have worked with more, but it was a very good deal for the football club and an ongoing deal that could rise.
"It’s huge credit to the Academy and Allan McManus and his staff. We’re producing good players and that’s the lifeblood of the football club – bringing in players, developing them and selling them.
"Clubs in the English Premier League are paying for potential now and he has that. Crystal Palace have conducted themselves very well throughout the transfer as well which has to be credited."
Reid became the youngest ever Saints player when he made his first-team debut at just 16 years and five days old in a Premiership match away to Rangers in March 2021.
He made seven more appearances for the first-team, with his last coming against Hearts at Tynecastle in January.
