Duncan Ferguson will take Tuesday’s first team training session starting at 10:30am at Finch Farm as Everton start their preparations for next Saturday’s home game against Aston Villa following the sacking of Rafa Benitez.
Former Liverpool boss Benitez was dismissed by the Blues on Sunday after just half a season in charge with the 2-1 defeat to bottom club Norwich City leaving him with just one win from his last 13 matches.
Four of Benitez’s backroom staff followed the Spaniard out of the Goodison Park exit door on Monday.

Francisco de Miguel Moreno, who like Ferguson held the title of assistant manager; Antonio Gomez (first-team coach and senior analyst), Jamie Harley (head of sport science) and Cristian Fernandez (first-team rehabilitation fitness coach) all left with immediate effect.
Ferguson, who was first appointed to the first team coaching staff under Roberto Martinez, has also served under Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce and Marco Silva and was promoted to the post of assistant under both Carlo Ancelotti and Benitez.
The 50-year-old ex-Everton striker, who had two playing spells at the club between 1994-98 and 2000-06, previously had a four-game stint as caretaker manage in December 2019 following the sacking of Silva.
