Dumfries Crichton parkrun has festive flavour for Christmas

The weekly Crichton parkrun had a festive flavour on Saturday.

A total of 171 runners and walkers took part, many of them wearing Santa outfits and other fancy dress.

First round the course was Ritchie Thomson in 17 minutes 34 seconds while Rebecca Bryson was the first woman in 22 minutes 23 seconds.

Parkrun is a free, weekly 5k run around a course in the Crichton, suitable for all ages and abilities. All you have to do is register for free at www.parkrun.org.uk and bring your barcode to the event.

And there’s a treat for parkrun fans this weekend with two events planned – one on Saturday and one on Sunday, which is New Year’s Day.

Both runs start at 9.30am.
