The 2022-23 season has, once again, been successful with league titles closely contested and exciting cup competitions.
The under 15 and senior Dumfries and Galloway Association boys’ teams competed in the Scottish Schools’ FA Inter-Association National Trophies.
A senior girls team competed in the inaugural Scottish Schools’ FA National Trophy.
Following the untimely passing of two great stalwarts of schools football, Stuart Binnie (Stranraer Academy) and James Hannay (North West Campus), Dumfries and Galloway Schools FA staged the inaugural seven aside tournament for S1 teams at Palmerston Park courtesy of Queen of the South FC on May 3.
Brian Henderson, Secretary of D&G SFA, said: “Stuart and James are sorely missed and the Association are ever indebted for their huge input to school and regional football. The tournament and the trophies presented in their name will serve as an ongoing reminder of their commitment, enthusiasm and positivity for many years to come. We were delighted and touched that James’ children, Ayla and Lachlann, agreed to present the trophies.”
Lewis Downie and Chris Mitchell both St Joseph’s College represented the Scottish Schools’ FA in a friendly v Australia and in the annual Centenary Shield fixtures v England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Wales.
The Association would like to thank Queen of the South FC for their support; a community club which is serious about supporting its community.
