The cold snap is set to return as an arctic blast is heading towards Ireland.
A weather forecaster warned that a brief "blast of cold" could grip the country this weekend. Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said: "A brief blast of cold from the weekend still looking likely. However details still uncertain for next week. Wouldn’t rule out some wintry falls though."
Currently, two weather warnings are in place for eight counties. A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for Clare, Cork, Kerry, and Galway from 8am until 12pm today.
