Ireland is set to freeze as temperatures will drop even further over the coming days.
The recent nights have already been frosty with subzero temperatures but Met Eireann said a freezing cold snap could be on the way. The national forecaster said weather warnings could be a possibility next week as low pressure will dominate the weather with the airflow likely to be westerly or southwesterly leading to unstable conditions near Ireland.
Independent forecaster Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather also said very cold weather is on the cards. He said: "March of many weathers could certainly live up to its name with more support for a cold snap next week on charts rolling out.

"Still subject to change and details are uncertain but cold looking likely. Very good support for colder and still mainly dry weather from Sunday for a few days but very uncertain beyond Wednesday. Could be a short cold snap or could last longer."
This morning will start off with some patchy light rain but will clear away during the afternoon. It will be mostly cloudy for the rest of the afternoon and evening but there will be some sunny breaks with the top temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy with some patchy light rain. The temperatures will be around 1 to 4 degrees.
Tomorrow will start off with a good deal of scattered cloud with some patchy light rain extending from the east during the morning. Any lingering rain will ease by the afternoon giving way to some sunny spells and temperatures will be around 7 to 9 degrees.
There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:
Thursday night
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "A mostly cloudy evening but there will be some clear breaks at times too. Any lingering patchy light rain will clear away overnight in a light easterly breeze. Lowest temperatures of -1 to 2 degrees so a touch of frost is possible.
Friday
"Another cloudy start on Friday but some sunny spells will begin to develop especially in the north. A few patches of light rain or drizzle for southern areas in a light to moderate southeasterly breeze. Highs of 7 to 9 degrees.
Friday night
"It will stay mainly dry and cloudy especially in the south of the country. Further north more clearer spells will develop with a light to moderate easterly breeze. It will be cold overnight in the north with temperatures falling below freezing at -2 degrees but further south it should stay a touch milder at 0 to 2 degrees, so some frosty patches are possible."
