An LGBT group has hit out at hateful online comments ahead of their upcoming culture night.
Mother Dublin, a gay nightclub that first originated in 2010, provides disco events for the LGBT community in Dublin. The group will feature in Cultur Chlub on March 16, taking place in the Festival Quarter of the National Museum of Ireland.
The event is set to showcase numerous drag performers, who will take to the stage to host an exciting LGBT ceilidh, aptly named 'Geili'. However, Mother Dublin revealed on Instagram that two drag performers taking part in the event received online hate following an official press launch.

The statement read: "The reaction to two of our drag performers being included at the official press launch of the St Patrick's Festival programme caused some very ugly homophobic and transphobic rhetoric online in the past few weeks. Some of these voices reflect a reality that we as queer people are all too familiar with."
The group organisers went on to condemn the attacks in their social media post, adding that drag performance plays a vital role in LGBT storytelling and expression. They clarified that they stood in solidarity with these performers and vowed they "weren't going anywhere" despite the vitriol.
Mother Dublin wrote: "This small but vocal minority is not a true reflection of the modern Irish identity and how far our communities have come- it's a manipulated and manufactured outrage to push far right agendas and encourage fear and misunderstanding of difference."
Mother Dublin hosts a disco night every Saturday on Lost Lane, Dublin 2. The group has had a strong presence at some of Ireland's music festivals, including Love Sensation and their own Pride Block Party.
The event on March 16 will also see Pantibliss take to the stage for a special performance, fresh off her recent Dancing with the Stars success. Tickets are available from €22.65 at Eventbrite.
