Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announces new law for Police Academy: 5-year service rule, new degrees, AI training and more

Dubai has taken another step toward strengthening its global reputation for security and innovation. In March 2026, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, issued Law No. (7) of 2026 governing the Dubai Police Academy, introducing sweeping reforms that aim to modernise police education, expand research capabilities and align training with cutting-edge technology.

The legislation replaces the academy’s previous legal framework from 2005 and introduces a comprehensive governance structure, updated academic programmes and a strong emphasis on digital transformation. For a city that consistently ranks among the safest in the world, the new law reflects Dubai’s broader strategy to build the future of policing through technology, advanced training and global best practices.
