Drivers risk £1,000 fine if they get angry on the road and lash out in road rage

Motorists who feel themselves driven to road rage could find they are breaking a law they may not even know exists.

Sounding their car horn out of anger is against the Highway Code while making erratic hand gestures could land them with a whopping £1,000 fine for losing control of their vehicle. The danger of receiving an instant penalty has been highlighted by price comparison website Confused.com, with the added warning that car insurance premiums would rise too for those with points on their licence.

There are many lesser-known offences and driving laws can be updated at any time so it's a driver's responsibility to be aware of them. For instance, as Wales Online reports, drivers should refrain from using their horns out of anger to avoid the risk of an instant £30 fine.
