A driver 'refused' a breathalyser after they were caught reaching speeds of 115 MPH on the motorway. The black Volkswagen Polo was spotted by an unmarked police vehicle on the M57 on Saturday (December 17).
Police said the vehicle was seen averaging at around 97 MPH before speeding up to 115 MPH. After being stopped by officers, Merseyside Police said the driver 'refused' to comply with a breathalyser or drugs test.
The driver was subsequently taken into custody for questioning and the vehicle was recovered. Police shared a photo of the car on the hard shoulder after being pulled over.

In the tweet, the Roads Policing Unit wrote: "The driver of this Volkswagen Polo passed an unmarked patrol vehicle at high speed on the M57, it averaged 97mph before reaching 115mph.
"The driver refused to comply with a breathalyser or drug test and is currently sat in custody. The vehicle was recovered."
