Developer BioWare announced that it plans to launch a standalone app for Dragon Age: The Veilguard's character creator.
The announcement also detailed the narrative-driven RPG's next path which will be coming out soon. The studio confirmed on Dragon Age Day 2024 that it will soon put out its deep character creator as a free download on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Character Creator
Many players know that there is the potential to go down a rabbit hole once you start tinkering with Dragon Age: The Veilguard's customization options. One noteworthy part of the game's creator is its amazing hair tech.
The best thing about the planned standalone character creator app is that all completed character designs can be exported to the full Dragon Age: The Veilguard game. This comes as the title's Patch 4 will add a ton of new features.
These will include a tool that lets players take photos within the game's cutscenes, add extra Qunari complexions, and introduce a ton of bug fixes. Arguably the most notable part of the upcoming update is a set of Dragon Age 2 armor, according to Eurogamer.
The free cosmetics include body paint and "nose blood smear" of Hawke, the protagonist of Dragon Age 2. The items can be acquired in the Lighthouse after downloading Dragon Age: The Veilguard's latest patch and finishing The Singing Blade mission.
The release of the standalone app comes as character creation has become a major selling point of many games like Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This was also something that was seen in Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
Celebrating Dragon Age Day 2024
Some publishers, including Capcom, have also made extra effort for people who enjoy creating unique characters. The company is planning to give out customization access in Dragon's Dogma II and Monster Hunter Wilds, Polygon said.
The upcoming patch for Dragon Age: The Veilguard is said to include a variety of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements for the game.
One particular issue that was fixed addressed complaints that some players have had about the lack of horn-to-forehead texture.
Developer BioWare also said that it will be releasing a number of stats later on that will shed light on players' choices for some of the bigger in-game decisions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
One of the changes in Patch 4 reverts an adjustment from Patch 3 where a line was introduced to show where a Photo Mode screenshot was saved. This was due to a safety concern brought by content creators, according to IGN.
