Don't forget about fans just yet - this clever launch is a hero for hot sleepers all year round

Three images of the Meaco Sefte Fan and controller, one showing the floor-standing one, one with the remote, and one on the counter.

There's no doubt the weather has cooled. But do you know what? I haven't packed one, very specific, fan away. Plenty of other "heatwave heroes" have found new homes and places to be stored away over the winter, but I'm just not sure I want to sleep without the breeze of this Meaco fan.

Lots of people forget that cooling fans aren't really heatwave purchase. A smart investment can make them a sleep and air quality purchase too. In fact, if you run hot at night, the season is almost irrelevant. What matters is that you own a fan that is quiet enough not to wake you, controllable enough to dial down to a whisper, and effective enough to actually do something when it counts.

Having tested plenty, I can tell you that most fans aren't up to the task of keeping you or your bedroom cool. However, Meaco's new Sefte Tower Fan duo really is - and I think it'll be hard to get hold of very soon.

For the whole room

Perfect for the whole room, the subtle style blends in, whilst blowing a full-body breeze across your space. You can have it rotating - and connected to the clever app.

For one person

This is the one to choose if you want personal cooling power, straight onto your skin. It sits neatly by the bed, on the table, and has even been designed to slide effortlessly under wall cupboards. You can have cool air anywhere.

The new tower fans build on the Sefte range's reputation for keeping a room cool, arriving in two sizes: a 49cm model built for bedsides, desks and even kitchen counters (it's been designed to tuck neatly beneath overhead cupboards), and a 92.5cm version with the extra puff to cool a bedroom or living room properly. Both are UK-designed, come with Meaco's three-year warranty, and are finished in the brand's understated Warm Pebble colourway, so even once the heatwaves have passed, they won't look out of place doing quieter, everyday duty in a corner of the room.

It's one of the many proofs that this is not just for the heatwaves and summer days. The Meaco fans boast air speeds of up up to 9m/s, which is strong enough that if you were outside and had a windspeed of 9m/s, you'd find it hard to control an umbrella.

In total, there are 12 fan speeds, Normal, ECO and Night modes, and noise levels as low as 22dBA, which is described as "virtually inaudible" and comparable to "the sounds of a calm, remote, rural bedroom at night" on dBA measurement scales.

Chris Michael, Chief Product Officer for Meaco says that the Sefte Tower range combines fans that sit comfortably in the home "with the quiet operation, airflow control and product quality that customers expect from Sefte." He adds that "the four oscillation angles give people greater control over where the air is directed, while the choice of two sizes means they can select the model best suited to their space.”

Chris is referring to special, new Air Beam Precision control which adds a fourth oscillation option (a narrow 45° alongside the existing 90°, 135° and 180°), so you can aim a thin stream of air exactly where you need it rather than cooling the whole room, which is a godsend for anyone who wakes up hot in the early hours of the morning and wants a cool, smooth stream of air to keep them cool..

More fans that we love

Brilliant for the bedside table

Small, powerful, and brilliant for the bedside table, this will have you cool all night long. It's one of Meaco's older fans, but it's still one of my favourites.

Petite and portable

Suitable for sitting by your bed, plugged in, or taking with you on the go, this small fan came with me everywhere during the heatwave. It's been a summer best-seller.

Large and powerful

With a height-adjustable stand, this can work across the room or it can sit close to you. As with the other Sefte fans, it can be batter-powered or plugged in.

If you've tried to get your hands on a fan or an air cooler this summer, you'll have witnessed a snapshot of the unprecedented demand that the market has seen this year. And nobody knows that better than Meaco.

Given how quickly Meaco's fans have sold out this year, it would be a mistake to assume the moment for buying one has passed just because the current spell of hot weather has. If this summer has taught us anything, it's that heatwaves in the UK now arrive with little warning and even less mercy and a fan that's this quiet, this well-designed and this easy to live with year-round is worth having in reserve.
