Liverpool are pressing ahead with a £60m move for RB Leipzig's Dominik Szoboszlai.
Club officials held talks with the Hungary captain's representatives earlier this week as they held exploratory discussions around a potential deal for the attacking midfielder.
Having bid farewell to long-serving trio Roberto Firmino, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the end of the season, Jurgen Klopp and co have begun the process of rejuvenating Liverpool's squad following a severely underwhelming campaign.
First through the door was Brighton's World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister, who is set to be followed by Szoboszlai after an impressive Bundesliga campaign.

Stats show that Szoboszlai was one of the Bundesliga's leading creators last season, with only some of Europe's best and most exciting talents ahead of him in the charts. Across the 2022/2023 campaign, Szoboszlai was involved in 163 open-play shot-ending sequences
But a slight delve into the archives tells you that Szoboszlai's technical skills are not the only ones he can boast about. A post-match interview from November 2021 is telling of the composure that he possesses.
After netting an injury-time penalty kick to secure a 2-2 draw against PSG in the UEFA Champions League group stages, Szoboszlai revealed that star man Neymar attempted to throw him off the task at hand.
"He was asking me 'Are you going to score?' I said yes," Szoboszlai. "He said 'Are you sure?' I said yes. I never miss. It is how it is."
Such an emphatic and confident response from the 22-year-old may just convince Reds fans that he has the mental capacity to display big performances on the big stage.
