A full week into NFL free agency, the Miami Dolphins are still looking for a third wide receiver to slide in behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on their depth chart.
However, it appears that general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel might have their eyes on a Super Bowl champion.
According to CBS’ Josina Anderson, the Dolphins are currently set to host former Baltimore Ravens wideout Odell Beckham Jr. for a visit on Thursday.
Beckham, 31, was originally selected by the New York Giants with the 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft out of LSU. After five seasons with New York, where he made three Pro Bowls and two Second-team All-Pros, he joined the Cleveland Browns for 2.5 seasons before being released.
The former Tiger signed with the Los Angeles Rams for the rest of the 2021 season, helping the team win a Super Bowl. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL in the game, causing him to miss all of the 2022 season.
Beckham spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens, recording 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games.
A year removed from his ACL injury, Beckham may be ready to make more of an impact than he did in Baltimore. But, considering his age and injury history, it’s hard to imagine that he recaptures that magic that made him a Pro Bowler.
Still, with Hill and Waddle in front of him, this could just be the perfect situation for him.
